1. Columns Museum
The Columns Museum of the Pike County Historical Society is a 22-room mansion in nearby Milford, PA. This museum is home to unique pieces like The Lincoln Flag and a steel girder from Ground Zero at the World Trade Center. A few of the exhibits to see while there include those about the Pinchot Family, Charles Peirce, Chief Thundercloud, and the Schocopee Schoolhouse. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. At the museum gift shop, you can purchase books, t-shirts, and other souvenirs.
2. Dorflinger Glass Museum
Home to one of the nation’s largest collections of Dorflinger glass is the Dorflinger Glass Museum in White Mills, PA. The museum opened to the public in the spring of 1989 with generous donations from the community. You can visit the museum from May to October for just $5.00. Past exhibits have included John O’Connor’s Parisian Pattern and Innovative Design. The onsite gift shop carries beautiful pieces like paperweights, jewelry, and ornaments.
3. Wayne County Historical Society and Museum
Honesdale is home to the Wayne County Historical Society and Museum. The main goal of the museum is to collect and preserve historical records of persons, places, and events in Wayne County. Permanent exhibits at the museum include Faces in Clay, Movin’ Energy, and Wayne’s Glass. Sites to see while there are the Old Stone Jail, Bethel School, and J.B. Park Farm Museum on the Wayne County Fair Grounds.
4. Houdini Museum
If you enjoy magic and illusion, you must make a stop by the Houdini Museum in Scranton, PA. When visiting, plan on spending at least 3 hours. You will see a movie, many Houdini artifacts, and a magic show featuring Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks. All tickets are $20.00.
5. Frazetta Art Museum
Frank Frazetta is a fantasy artist born in 1928. The largest collection of Frazetta originals can be found at the Frazetta Art Museum in Stroudsburg, PA. Collections to see include 30 original oil pieces, as well as his sports equipment, camera collection, his easel, and pallet. There is no admission fee but a $15 donation per person is appreciated.
